Cambridge Trinity May Ball Projection Mapping

Limbic Cinema were asked by production specialists Event Projection to create and map a piece to project on the famous Wren Library of Cambridge University, for the Trinity College May Ball.

The May Ball has been held every year since 1866 and the University is famed for many theories and discoveries in physics and astronomy, not least DNA. The client’s wanted this scientific history reflected with a narrative, which we developed with graduate – Raphael Scheps.

The 5 minute animation, was to follow a gigantic firework display, so consequently had to be as visually impressive as it was scientifically accurate. With only 3 weeks to produce the whole piece, workflow and production pipeline were very important to insure it was delivered on time.
